KAKINADA : The Telugu Desam Party membership drive has evoked a tremendous response from people, said Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa.


Speaking to newsmen at the TDP office here on Wednesday, Chinna Rajappa, who is also the convener of State TDP enrolment programme, said the response to the drive was particulary good in Chittoor, Kadapa, Anantapur and West Godavari districts with the enthusiastic participation of the party rank and file in it. 


The TDP has enrolled 53 lakh new members so far. Buoyed by the good response, the party is contemplating extending the enrolment drive for a few more days to achieve the 60 lakh membership target, he said.    


Speaking on Vardah, the Deputy Chief Minister said the State Government had succeeded in mitigating the cyclone loss by taking adequate precautionary measures and ensuring coordination among various departments in distater management. The relief measures were taken up on a war-footing in the cyclone affected areas. 


Due to bad weather, heavy rain and squally winds, two persons died in Chittoor district. No loss of life was reported in other coastal districts of the State, the Deputy Chief Minister said. 
MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao (Konda Babu), TDP leader N Dora Babu and others were present.
