A brace from Christian Eriksen helped Tottenham to a convincing 3-0 victory over Hull as they kept pace with rest of the Premier League’s leading teams.
Spurs had the lion’s share of possession and chances, opening the scoring inside a quarter of an hour when Eriksen smashed Danny Rose’s cut-back into the roof of the net to complete a 30-pass move.
Hull briefly looked lively in the second half and Hugo Lloris made a brilliant save to deny former team-mate Jake Livermore but moments later Eriksen had his second, tapping in a Kyle Walker cross at the back post.
Victor Wanyama added a third when Eriksen’s deflected free-kick was saved onto the post by David Marshall and rebounded into his path, but the Dane couldn't complete his hat-trick.
Spurs remain in fifth, three points adrift of the top four, while Hull are still deep in trouble in 19th.

TALKING POINT

Eriksen is back to his best. Tottenham as a whole have had an underwhelming season so far and Eriksen's poor form has contributed to that, especially in their struggles in breaking teams down. In recent weeks though he's been back to his dynamic best, continuing that form tonight, and it's no coincidence that goals have come with that. His goal at Chelsea last month was his first of the season but since then he has five in four league games and while both were first-time finishes tonight, he also looks to be dribbling with more purpose and linking up well with his team-mates.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Christian Eriksen (Tottenham): He scored two goals and set up the third. He’s one of Spurs’ most important players and shone tonight, despite playing in a deeper role than usual for much of the game.

KEY MOMENTS

14’ – GOAL! Spurs 1-0 Hull. It's been coming. Vertonghen chips a ball in behind the Hull defence for Rose to run onto and after doing so he enters the box and pulls it back for Eriksen to smash into the roof of the net.
36’ – SAVE! Alli is completely unmarked as he takes down a long Dier pass inside the box but perhaps takes too long to shoot and Marshall is able to tip his deflected effort wide.
41’ – CHANCE! Kane slips in Vertonghen who bursts into the box but tries to do too much rather than just shoot and when a shot finally does come it's blocked and he then trips a Hull defender.
60’ – SAVE! While Spurs want a penalty Hull break and after Rose blocks the initial shot Lloris makes a brilliant save with his feet to deny Livermore.
63’ – GOAL! Spurs 2-0 Hull. This time it's Walker who gets in behind the Hull backline and fizzes a cross to Eriksen at the back post who taps in.
73’ – GOAL! Spurs 3-0 Hull. Eriksen's deflected free-kick is palmed onto the post by Marshall but Wanyama is there to score the rebound.
