Niruttara was an experience of a lifetime: Aindrita Ray
Aindrita Ray has been a woman on the move for the past few weeks. Soon after her month-long break in Australia, she set off to Karwar, Mangaluru and then Kolkata, where she is currently to work on her next project. The busy lass took time off to speak to the Bangalore Times from the City of Joy about her upcoming Kannada film, Niruttara'
It's been a while since you did a Kannada film...

My last movie was Bhajrangi, which released back in 2013. I shot for Niruttara a while ago, but it's releasing now. So yes, there has been a long gap.
This is your first time with the entire team of Niruttara. What have been your takeaways?
This is also the first time that I am doing a multi-cast film, and I have learnt a lot from it. Although I didn't have scenes with Rahul Bose, I heard a lot about the way he acts. I am friends with Kiran (Srinivas) in real-life, and I play his friend in the movie as well, so it was very comfortable to work with him. The same goes for Bhavana. It was a different experience to work with Apurva (Kasaravalli, the director) and the cameraman (HM Ramachandra). Apurva is very talented; he's very sweet, but when we are shooting, he does not compromise. So, all of us ended up giving 9-10 takes for each scene. The shoot was also very hard, since we shot in the Thar Desert, and then went to Manali next ' so, we were exposed to extreme temperatures. I thought that I would collapse in Rajasthan due to the heat! It was not easy, but it was an experience of a lifetime.

What about this movie got you excited?
The script is really good and it's been shot in a completely different way. It's larger than life, and has been shot in numerous parts of India. Although it's a Kannada film, we have shown the culture of places across the country. I knew that this film will be recognized at some level.
You have also signed your second Bengali film...
Yes, and I am super excited about it. My first Bengali film was Bachchan in 2014, and since, people have been asking me on social media to do another Bengali project. I was waiting for a really good script, which I have found. I hope to make an impact in that film industry, as Bengali is my mother tongue, after all.
There is a picture of you and Ragini Dwivedi on your Twitter page. Can there be genuine friendship between two actresses?
Ragini and I were travelling from Karwar to Goa in the same car, which is when that picture was taken. I feel that there isn't much competition these days, and almost all actors and actresses are friends. There is no longer a sense of the arch rivalry of the past. I am close to Nidhi Subbaiah and Ragini. We don't meet often, and when we do, it's usually for events, at which we hang out and have a good time.
There are also videos of you paragliding...
That was in Karwar. I did parasailing and paragliding there, during which I was taken to a height of 2,000 meters. Paragliding was
pretty scary, but it was a thrilling experience. I also did snorkeling, jet skiing and trekking during my holiday in Australia. I love adventure sports and my first bungee jump was when I was in Class 10. I have a long bucket list and still want to sky dive, among other things.
