60th National Shooting Championship set to kick off at Pune’s Balewadi Shooting Range

The 60th National Shooting Championship Competitions (NSCC) for Rifle and Pistol events is set to kick off in Pune’s Balewadi Shooting Range with competitions for the Men’s 10m Air Rifle, 50m Pistol and 25m Rapid Fire Pistol scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

Pre-event training concluded on Monday and the first finals are slated for Wednesday, December 14, with the Men’s 50m Pistol followed by the Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol finals. This year’s competitions have seen an all-time record entry of 4500 shooters from across the country.

Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, Mr. Raninder Singh, President, National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) said, “We have an important year in Shooting coming up, with the country hosting two premiere world events in 2017, beginning with the first leg of the ISSF World Cup scheduled to be held in New Delhi in the last week of February.”

“Given this context and the opportunities they are likely to throw up for our shooters, we wish all participants at the 60th NSCC all the very best. We hope they will use these Nationals as a stepping stone towards the greater goal which is to win laurels for the country in the international stage,” he added.

The 60th NSCC (Rifle/Pistol) will see a total of 31 event finals, 15 in the senior category and 16 in the junior category respectively. The tournament is slated to conclude on December 26.
