New Delhi/Mumbai, Dec 12 (IBNS) : Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan were among others to join Prime Minister Narendra Modi to post on social networking handles their wishes on the birthday of Rajnikath, the superstar of southern cinema.

Big B tweeted,"It is Rajnikant's birthday on Dec 12th and we wish him greater glory happiness and good health."

On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan called him the 'coolest' and 'greatest' star as he wished him saying,"To the coolest & greatest of em all. Wishing u health happiness & years of entertainment for us. Happy B'Day Thalaivaa."

Many Kollywood celebs like Vishal, Jayam Ravi, Venkat Prabhu, Raai Laxmi, Kajal Aggarwal and many others also  conveyed their regards on Rajnikanth's birthday.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Happy birthday @superstarrajini! Wishing you a long life filled with good health."

Rajini, popularly known as Thalaiva/Thalaiwa (leader) among his fans, was born as Shivaji Rao Gaikwad in 1950.

Working as a bus conductor in the Bangalore Transport Service, Rajani actively participated in plays.

He eventually made his debut in  K. Balachander's Tamil drama Apoorva Raagangal (1975).

He is one of the most popular celebrity in Asia.
