VADODARA: If you pass from the Gotri Road, you would come across a big portrait of a Barodian and the achievements the person has.
The portrait installed outside Deepak Foundation premises facing the road changes every month.
On Sunday, a portrait of Nishita Rajput, a citizen working for education to underprivileged girls and betterment of senior citizens, was unveiled by royal family member Radhikaraje Gaekwad.

“Rajput has made positive contribution to the society and hence her portrait was installed. We started this initiative four months ago and have already installed portraits of war veteran Major Nitin Mehta, deaf and mute cricketer Imran Sheikh and archery champion Dinesh Bhil,” said Sachin Kaluskar, curator of the project.
“The idea behind the initiative is to encourage the unsung heroes and establish their connection instantly with the citizens who would see the big portrait daily. We also want to inspire other citizens to contribute positively for the development of the society. Deepak Foundation felicitates the heroes and gives them Rs 51,000,” Kaluskar told TOI.
Fanil Pandya takes photographs of the chosen citizen every month and Gopal Patel makes the portrait.
