2 workers die in accident at Vapi GIDC unit

SURAT: Two workers died and one was taken ill at an industrial unit in Vapi GIDC on Sunday.
Vapi GIDC police said the accident happened at Mega Fine Pharma Private Ltd when three workers went in to clean a chemical vessel and got asphyxiated. They were brought out in unconscious state and rushed to Hariya Hospital of Vapi where two were declared dead on arrival. One worker is under treatment.
The deceased were identified as Ramchandra Pandit, 55, and Raju Hirnayak, 41.The person who is under treatment is Rohit Prasad Pal, 19.
Police inspector J B Patel said, “We have registered a case. The workers had gone to clean a turbine when the accident happened.”
