PIA starts flight operation to Barcelona

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) started its flight operation to Barcelona today morning.

PIA Spokesman, Danyal Gilani in a statement said, “A B-777 aircraft left for the Spanish city via Paris from Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad.”

“Due to the tragic December 7 incident, all festivities planned earlier for the launch of this flight had been cancelled,” he said.

“In a somber mood CEO PIA, Bernd Hildenbrand saw off the passengers,” he added.

Expressing his views on the occasion, Hildenbrand said, “With the resumption of flights to Barcelona, after a gap of nearly two years, passengers will have a convenient link between Pakistan and Spain,” the spokesman quoted him as saying.

“PIA will operate two weekly flights to Barcelona, one each from Islamabad and Lahore, operating on Sundays and Tuesdays,” the Spokesman said.
