AAP’s Durgesh Pathak reviews dist campaign

Durgesh Pathak, head of the Aam Aadmi Party’s National Organisation Building team, visited the city today to review the party’s campaign in the district. 

He interacted with party leaders and volunteers. Pathak said the party’s situation in Punjab was very good and it would win the coming Assembly elections. 

Pathak interacted with Patiala (Urban) candidate Balbir Singh who has been pitted against Captain Amarinder Singh and zone coordinator Col Bhalinder Singh. 

Pathak said the party was overwhelmed by the response they are receiving. “We initially thought that Captain Amarinder Singh would be way ahead of us and it will be a one-sided fight from his constituency, but considering the residents’ response we are sure that we can defeat him,” he said.

Pathak said according to the expected outcome, the party would win over 85 seats. He said: “Citizens of Punjab are fed up of the Akalis and the Congress. The rival parties will get to know where they stand after the Election Code of Conduct is in place.” 

Pathak said they were showing one-hour movie about the present situation of Punjab, development works carried out by AAP in Delhi and their manifesto for Punjab to highlight their future course of action while campaigning. We are getting very good response. He said the party had launched ‘Chalo Punjab’ movement to urge people from outside Punjab, especially NRIs, to work for ensuring the party’s victory in the 2017 Assembly poll.

Pathak said about 20,000 people had already registered themselves under the movement and most of them were expected to reach India in January to actively support AAP. 

Pathak said the party was relying on e-campaign and had adopted pollution-free ways of promotion. “We have identified about 1,000 walls in each constituency and will paint them after taking permission from the authorities concerned. Moreover, most of our volunteers are using bicycles to campaign for our candidates.” About announcing Bhagwant Mann’s candidature against Sukhbir Singh Badal from Jalalabad and party convener Gurpreet Singh Waraich candidature against Bikram Singh Majithia, Pathak said it was the party’s style of contesting. We could have easily chosen safer seats for our senior leaders, but we wanted to set an example.
