“He was left frustrated like he can’t do nothing. We did a great job to contain him. I’m absolutely happy with the match. We have dominated full 90 minutes,” the Spaniard said.

Coming from a player of Forlan’s stature, the action may have been uncalled for but Mumbai City FC coach Alexandre Guimaraes backed the 2010 World Cup Golden Ball Winner and said he’s just ‘human’.

“What he showed today is that he’s human,” the Costa Rican said adding that they have enough bench strength to play without him in their home leg semis on December 13.

“We have played without him initially. I am very sure we have a strong bench strength to replace him. Hope we will manage and put up an improved display. I know we can manage better, collectively and individually.”

The first half saw the match moving on a fast-lane with five goals while the last 45 minutes was a goalless affair.

Terming it a fantastic display of Indian football, he said: “It was a real game. To have this result in one semifinal shows the competition. For the development of the league, it was a very good game and a lesson for local players.

“We have to understand you have to play with a different stamina these kind of games, doesn’t matter whom you play. It’s a lesson for all teams.”
