Is a young fan’s note to San Francisco Giants general manager Bobby Evans the reason the team signed closer Mark Melancon?
Probably not — the Giants were in desperate need of a ninth inning arm and Melancon has 168 saves in his eight-year career. It’s a perfect fit.
But still, this letter is wonderful:

“Bobby, it would be so cool if the Giants got Mark Melancon. I really really really want you to go out and get him very very soon. Melancon really really needs to come to the Giants. Please offer him a big contract!!! Bobby, please go out and get him now! Melancon needs to come to the Giants this offseason.”
Would you be surprised if this kid was a future GM?
