Woman dies after car mounts pavement in Woking

A woman has died after being struck by a car which mounted the pavement following a crash with another vehicle.

A blue Peugeot and a BMW collided at about 20:45 GMT on Friday on Monument Road in Woking close to the junction with Arnold Road, Surrey Police said.

The Peugeot mounted the pavement and struck the passer-by, who police believe was in her 50s.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the woman died at the scene.

Officers are urging witnesses to come forward.

Both drivers were assisting with enquiries, the force added.
