8z Real Estate offices participate in "Sock it to ‘Em" campaign

Have you ever left for a long vacation, and once you arrived, realized that you forgot to pack socks?  Starting in January, Fort Carson will be shipping out more than 4,000 soldiers of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team.  Local businesses participating in the “Sock it To ‘Em” campaign, want to take one item off of the soldiers’ to-do list, by collecting 7,500 socks this month, to be distributed at Fort Carson.

Realtors from two 8z Real Estate offices are focusing their holiday philanthropy efforts by collecting socks for Fort Carson soldiers.  The 8z Real Estate Aurora and 8z Real Estate Parker offices have collection bins, and have already collected hundreds of socks, with a couple weeks to go. 

8z Realtor Mark Risley spoke to Denver’s Fox 31 about the need for socks by the troops, "It's one of those things I think is easily overlooked. People don't think socks, people think coats, hats, mittens but I think socks and warm feet are just as important."

There is no doubt that warm feet will be important for this deployment. The Gazette reported in November that these Fort Carson soldiers will arrive in Poland to join in “Operation Atlantic Resolve” and will be stationed in Eastern Europe from Estonia in the North, to Romania, in the South.

The Sock it To ‘Em campaign has a goal of collecting 7,500 pairs of new, over-the-calf, black socks for Fort Carson soldiers through December 22, 2016.  Anyone wishing to make a donation can drop off socks to a participating 8z Real Estate office:
