Punjab University lifts Silver Rolling Trophy in Annual NZ Inter University Declamation Contest

Jammu, Dec 9: The team from Punjab University, Chandigarh won the Silver Rolling Trophy at the Second Annual North Zone Inter University Declamation Contest organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu today . The Silver Rolling Trophy for the same has been instituted by N N Vohra, Governor J & K State. Students from different Universities of North Zone participated in this contest.
The topic for the contest was “Is the pace of growth and development determined by the quality of governance?” On which, all the participants rendered thought provoking speeches. Teams from Panjab University, Chandigarh, DAV University, Jallandhar, Central University of Punjab, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra and University of Jammu participated in the contest.
Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu presented the Silver Rolling Trophy to the winning team and also certificates and mementos to the participating teams. The first prize in individual category was won by Seerat Baji from GCW, Gandhi Nagar while Kunal Saini from GGM Science College and Ramneet Kour from University of Jammu were declared second & third respectively. The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Dolphin and Saloni Sharma both from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Prof. R.D. Sharma congratulated the students for their active participation in this thought pondering event which is specially initiated by Sh. N.N. Vohra,  Governor J & K State and the Chancellor, University of Jammu so that the energy of the youth is channelized in a positive, constructive and Nation building activities.
Earlier in the morning, the event was inaugurated by Prof. Deshbandhu Gupta, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu. He congratulated and motivated the participating teams to present their rational thoughts about the topic of high relevance.
Prof. Lalit Magotra, Dr. Indira Rathore and Mr. Pardeep Dutta, were the adjudicators for the contest whereas Dr. Shashiprabha and Dr. Garima Gupta were the teachers incharge for the event.
