SONEPAT: The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana High Court has finalised the schedule for the annual elections of the office bearers of the Sonepat Bar Association.

The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana High Court has finalised the schedule for the annual elections of the office bearers of the Sonepat Bar Association. Voting will take place on December 22 and result will be announced the same day. For the first time, EVM machines will be used in voting.

The Bar Council has appointed Advocate Ajit Singh Saroha as returning officer and advocates Ramesh Dahiya and Manoj Sharma as assistant returning officers.

As the last date for depositing the annual fees of the association had expired on December 8, the new electoral roll of the association will be sent to the Bar Council by December 10. Any objection to the electoral roll can be filed to the returning officer by December 11.

Candidates can file their nominations from December 14 to 16 and the scrutiny of the nomination papers will be completed by 12 noon on December 17. Nominations can be withdrawn on the same day by 3 pm.

Anoop Singh Dahiya, Bar Association president, said the names of only those advocates who had paid all kind of dues of the association would be included in the voter’s list.
