50 expats nabbed; Drugs with Bangladeshi cabbie

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 9: Personnel from Farwaniya Security Department during security campaigns in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Farwaniya, Khaitan and Firdous have arrested 50 expatriates including 39 who had been reported ‘absconding’, 11 for violating residence and labor laws, reports Al-Anba daily. Meanwhile, personnel from Secret Tasks Department affiliated to the General Security Sector have arrested 14 people of various nationalities who were wanted by law in connection with various offences and had been sentenced in absentia, reports Al- Shahed daily. Police have also arrested a Syrian for consuming drugs. All those arrested have been referred to the concerned authorities

Manager jailed: After some shareholders of the Timas Company filed complaints of misappropriation of funds with the Public Prosecution the judge sent the Sudanese manager to the Central Prison for 21 days, reports Al-Jarida daily. According to reports six complaints have been filed against the suspect and investigations into them are expected to be completed next week. It is worth mentioning the Sentences Renewal Judge had earlier issued a decision to release two men — the Sudanese manager and a Jordanian — on KD 5,000 bail each. Both men were arrested in Abu Dhabi upon a request from the Kuwaiti Interpol and extradited to Kuwait.

Drugs with cabbie: The Farwaniya police have arrested a Bangladeshi roaming taxi driver for possessing drugs and causing in traffic jam, reports Al-Anba daily. The arrest came when the suspect was involved in a traffic accident at an unidentified location. The daily added, when the Bangladeshi saw the police he tried to get rid of a sachet of drugs which was in his possession. During interrogation the man said he was to deliver the drugs to an unidentified person. The Bangladeshi has been referred to General Department for Drugs Control while the police are looking for the recipient of the drug, believed to be an Egyptian

‘Shabu’ found on trio: Two Kuwaitis and a young Jordanian woman have been referred to the concerned authorities for possessing drugs, reports Al- Shahed daily. The daily added, the suspects were arrested in Mangaf on suspicion. When police ordered the youth behind the wheel to pull over, securitymen found the trio under the influence of drugs while checking their documents. Police have seized from their vehicle a sachet of shabu and referred to the concerned authorities
