Hyderabad: Absconding inspector arrested

Sources from the Commissioner's Task Force said that he was hiding in a place in the village with the help of an acquaintance.

Hyderabad: After nine days of a cat and mouse chase the police has finally managed to arrest Tappachabutra detective inspector Y. Rajashekhar from a village in East Godavari. He is accused of robbing a Khammam-based trader at Banjara Hills of Rs 30 lakh.

Sources from the Commissioner's Task Force said that he was hiding in a place in the village with the help of an acquaintance. The inspector was on the move between Vijayawada and East Godavari for a few days, and he was preparing to leave the state, sources said.

Hyderabad police had earlier arrested his aide and Congress local leader Thirumalesh Naidu a week ago. Police said some more people are absconding in the case. Early this month, Naidu and Rajas-hekhar had threatened and robbed a trader named Laxman Agarwal of Rs 30 lakh. They trapped him in a private guest house on the pretext of exchanging demonetised currency and took away his cash.

The victim, Laxman Agarwal had come to Hyderabad with of money to exchange.
