Udhampur, December 9
A woman was charred to death and all her household belongings, including poultry stock, were burnt when fire broke out in her house at Bughdual village, Dambote, Mongri tehsil, during wee hours today.
The deceased has been identified as Benti Devi (74), resident of Damnote. According to villagers, Benti Devi was all alone in her house when fire broke out. Villagers from the nearby houses rushed to the spot but could not save her.
The police has initiated inquest proceeding under Section 174 of the CrPC.
