MALAPPURAM: In a strong criticism of demonetisation, the national president of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) Baij Nath Rai alleged that the decision to withdraw the currencies was implemented by the centre in an autocratic way without any preparation.
Inaugurating the 3-day long state conference of NGO Sangh at Angadippuram near Perinthalmanna in Malappuram district on Friday he said that the decision to withdraw currencies which was taken without any proper discussion regarding the impact, has badly affected the common people of the country.
"Even after one month of the implementation of demonetisation, the issue of currency shortage in the country is yet to be resolved. It has started to badly affect the daily life of common people across the country", he said.
He said that BMS is welcoming the idea of 'cashless society' put forwarded by the centre, but the government should be ready to provide sufficient currencies through banks and ATMs. He said that the government has implemented the decision without proper planning. "Poor people of lower strata of society are the major victims of the decision that will not affect corporate likes Tata and Birla. Most of people who are in queue in front of banks are middle class and working class people who are struggling to meet both ends of life. Rural people of India are suffering due to the decision", he said.
He also said that the organisation will strongly oppose the government’s policy of direct foreign investment and privatisation of public firms.
