It's December, so entertainment editors are checking their year-end best-of lists more closely than Santa does his rundown of who's been naughty and nice.

Amy Adams stars as linguistics expert Louise Banks in 'Arrival.'

The American Film Institute released its list of 10 films and 10 TV series that its juries believe "advance the art of the moving image, enhance the cultural heritage of America's art form, inspire audiences and artists and make a mark on American society."

AFI also noted that it would bestow a special award on the TV documentary series O.J.: Made in America when it recognizes all the honorees at a Jan. 6 luncheon in Los Angeles.

Note: The lists are in alphabetical order, not in order of selection.
