Ailing elderly dies outside bank

An ailing elderly citizen, who had gone to withdraw money from a bank branch, died outside the bank in Sakaldiha area in Chandauli district on Friday. Following his death, local residents staged demonstration and blocked the road.

VARANASI: An ailing elderly citizen, who had gone to withdraw money from a bank branch, died outside the bank in Sakaldiha area in Chandauli district on Friday. Following his death, local residents staged demonstration and blocked the road.
According to reports, to withdraw money, a retired railway personnel Chhavinath Rajbhar (70), resident of Padnampur village, had gone to a branch of Union Bank at Sakaldiha with his grand son Manoj Rajbhar on a rickshaw.
After filling the withdrawal slip he sent Manoj inside the bank to withdraw cash. At the cash counter Manoj was asked to take one more signature of Chhavinath on the slip. When he came out to take the signature, he found Chhavinath unconscious. He was rushed to a nearby doctor who declared him dead.
The local residents started demonstration outside the bank and blocked the road. The police cleared the jam and sent the body for postmortem. Sakaldiha SO Vinay Kumar told to TOI over phone that Chhavinath was ill and he died while waiting outside the bank. However, Manoj gave a complaint to police claiming that Chhavinath died while standing in the queue. The police are investigating the matter.
