Illegal firearms factory unearthed in Firozabad district

AGRA/FIROZABAD: Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, an illegal firearms factory at the Sohram Gadi village in Firozabad district was busted by the crime branch and the Matsena police in a joint operation on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off from local intelligence, the recoveries were made from a godown of a house owned by illegal arms manufacturer Omprakash, who had been apprehended several times earlier too.
In the raid, two persons were arrested along with nine weapons, magazines, equipments and materials to manufacture arms.
Speaking to the TOI, station officer Pravinder Kumar Singh said, "Apprehended men are from Gwalior and Aligarh districts. They were bringing pistols to UP from Dewas and selling country-made pistols manufactured in Firozabad to Madhya Pradesh clients. Each weapon costs between Rs 35,000 and 40,000 each."
The men were identified as Bablu Sharma from Gwalior and Eshan Ali from Aligarh.
According to additional superintendent of police for Firozabad city, Sanjeev Kumar Bajpai, " For last couple of months we had been receiving input about weapons being made and smuggled to other districts and neighbouring states. On Friday, we arrested two persons in this regard and have booked them under 5/25 Arms Act.
Earlier too, in the month of February, Firozabad police had arrested five men of Munger (Bihar) from an illegal firearms factory in Chulavali village of Tundla.
