See the Kat Von D Alchemist Palette In Action Before It's Released

While we anxiously countdown the days until December 24, Erik Soto has been getting a head start on experimenting with the Kat Von D Alchemist Palette and teasing us with pictures on Instagram. If you have no idea why we're so jealous of Soto, who is Kat Von D's global makeup artist, here's a quick recap. The tattoo artist-meets-beauty mogul has been working on a holographic palette for seven years—yes, almost a decade. Last month, she did a special pre-release at The Makeup Show Chicago, and we finally got a peek inside the triangular creation. There were four "prismatic transformers," which is just a fancy name for iridescent powders that shift colors depending on the way light hits. There's {Green} Emerald, {Blue} Saphyre, {Ultra-Violet} Amethyst, and {Pink} Opal. When each shade is used alone, the finish is sheer and holographic, like a particularly moony highlighter. When patted or brushed atop other lipsticks, shadows or liners, they kind of come to life in delightfully unexpected ways. Soto showed us how the latter looks in action. You might want to take a couple of deep breaths before scrolling down because the Kat Von D Alchemist Palette is s-t-u-n-n-i-n-g.

Seriously, how many days until Christmas Eve? We need this palette in our lives, like, yesterday. Just as a reminder, the Kat Von D Alchemist Palette will be available on sephora.com come December 24.
