Mangaluru. December 8, 2016 : Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL) conducted an onsite Mock Exercise in the refinery on 8th December 2016 in the presence of District Crisis Management Authority including Shri. Narendra Babu, Deputy Director of Factories, Directorate of Factories, Boilers, Industrial Safety and Health, Mangalore. The Drill was conducted in the newly commissioned PFCC Unit, with the scenario being hydrocarbon leak followed by fire.

The exercise was carried out in the presence of various dignitaries including District Fire officer, Officials from the DC office, KSPCB, NMPT, Industry representatives from the neighbouring industries. The Mock Drill continued for about forty minutes during which fire fighting and cooling operation were carried out and readiness of the industry for handling any such emergencies was established.

Later a review meeting was held in the presence of Shri M Venkatesh, Director (Refinery) to analyse the shortcomings and lessons from the mock exercise. Shri. Narendra Babu, Deputy Director of Factories, who witnessed the Mock Drill complimented MRPL and other industry representatives for the excellent fire fighting and emergency handling abilities showcased during the Mock Drill. He acknowledged the quick response by Fire Tenders of not only MRPL, but also the Mutual Aid members OMPL, HPCL and MCF.

In his concluding remarks, Shri M Venkatesh, Director (Refinery), MRPL assured the gathering that all positive observations will be deliberated and complied with forthwith and thanked the delegates for having participated in such large numbers. He also complimented all connected with the conduct of the Mock Exercise for the excellent performance.
