RANCHI: Delhi Public School, greater Ranchi, has decided to offer educational scholarships to children of martyrs of Jharkhand Police.
School principal Arunima Chakravorty wrote a letter to Jharkhand DGP DK Pandey regarding the same earlier this week.
The school has also decided to reserve two seats, in each class, from class one to nine, for the children of martyrs in the upcoming academic year.
Chakravorty said, "We will extend full scholarship to students who will take direct admission. This will be a part of our Akhand Aryavart Scholarships, in which we will now include children of martyrs of Jharkhand Police, apart from the children of defence and CPMF martyrs."
However, the uniform, books and similar expenses, whose revenue does not go to the school, will have to be borne by the child or his family.
The school also requested the DGP to give recommendations on girl child. This apart, if the students of policemen take admission in the school, they will be exempted from paying at least Rs 12,000 per annum as tuition fees.
"We have requested the DGP to motivate the policemen of Jharkhand Police to enrol their children in our school, so that we too can contribute to nurturing their children as good Indian citizens with Indian values," the principal said.

The principal further requested the DGP to circulate the letter to police persons to make them aware about the offer.
A copy of the letter has also been sent to chief minister Raghubar Das's secretary Sunil Kumar Barnawal, seeking guidance and support.
The school has also planned to introduce Bharatiya Sanskritik Parivar Scholarship, under which, students staying beloging to a joint family will be given a scholarship of Rs 12,000 per annum. "This amount can be claimed at the end of an academic year," Chakravarty said.
