Log kya kahenge?” (What will people say?) is a very pertinent question that all of us ask at some point or the other in our lives. The fear of being judged, rebuked and ridiculed runs high in all of us often resulting in unhappiness, depression and anxiety. However, thanks to some liberals and opinion leaders we have come to terms with ourselves and learnt to take things in stride and break the societal shackles and boundaries. Society dictates on every aspect of our lives – what to eat, what to wear, whom to love, whom to marry, how to conduct. Sometimes some people can break these boundaries whereas at other times we have to conform. However, is the agenda of breaking free fed to us by marketing agencies, brands and their gimmicks? Celebrity hairstylist Sapna Moti Bhavnani definitely thinks so.

The former Bigg Boss contestant is known to speak her mind whether it is on love and forgiveness or picking up a bone of contention with Salman Khan. Her latest Facebook post is about being comfortable in one’s own skin which has got nothing to do with the kind of clothes we wear.

It’s no secret that the less clothes you wear on social media the more likes/followers you get. Although it’s visually appealing to see so many naked people on my timeline It’s also very sad to see so many women/men fall prey to this sneaky advertising gimmick of convincing people that it’s liberation and some sort of feminist movement. The brands continue objectifying men and women but now under the pretense of “personal choice.” Ever wonder why there is no “revolution” of putting clothes on instead? And why is fully clothed considered regressive even if personal choice? As a feminist we fight for our right to wear what we want (less or more) when we want and to see brands use that as a way of pimping their products is really shameful. Don’t be a product of some media fueled revolution. To be comfortable in your skin has got nothing to do with taking or keeping your clothes on. “Don’t be a pawn styled like a queen in someone’s else’s’ chess game, Own your own game. Actually fuck games.
