Mukul Harish to play Mohsin Khan's brother in 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai'

A section of media reported that actor Rafi Malik was in talks with producer Rajan Shahi to play the role of Kartik (Mohsin Khan)'s elder brother in the long-running show, 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai'. However, a reliable source from the production house informs that it's not Rafi, but Mukul Harish who has been finalised to play the part of Ishaan. Interestingly, Mukul, who catapulted to fame as 'Kartik' in 'Mrs Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein', will play brother to a character with the same name.
Informs a source associated with the show, "The deal with Rafi fell through and we have roped in Mukul. The character that he plays does not share a healthy bond with his younger brother, Kartik. Mukul's character had to sacrifice his dream of becoming a singer to join his father's business when Kartik left home. The resentment grows when his father forgives Kartik, when he returns home and ignores the sacrifices made by his elder son."
Mukul, who featured in shows like 'Pavitra Rishta' and 'Kalash', told us to call him later when we tried to contact him about his role.
