PWD constructs 14 roads worth 200 crore in remote areas

RAIPUR: Remote and tribal areas from Bilaspur to Sukma districts now have better road connectivity as public work department (PWD) has completed construction of 14 important roads worth nearly Rs 200 crore in last 15 months.
As per the information given by PWD officials, to ensure better road connectivity in remote forest areas of state, the department is also constructing 14 other major roads at a cost of Rs 405 crore at an accelerated pace.
PWD Minister Rajesh Moonat said, "construction of these roads will improve the connectivity from Baikunthpur to Kondagaon-Sukma and the officials are directed to complete the construction works at the earliest while complying to the quality standards." Moonat said that the completed road construction works include upgrading of Baikunthpur-Sonhat-Ramgarh Road at the cost Rs 42 crore 54 lakh and widening and concretization of 42 km long Shivrinarayan-Sarangarh highway worth Rs 37 crore 85 lakh with many other roads in remote and tribal areas.
