Actor Dharmendra at his personal gym on his 81st birthday yesterday

Top of the world

KANGANA Ranaut takes her title of Queen of Bollywood rather seriously. She remains determined to be the highest paid female actor Hindi movies have ever seen. Since it was reported that Deepika Padukone was being paid a whopping Rs 13 crore for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming epic romance (a lot more than her two male co-stars), Ranaut has hiked her fee. She recently quoted a delicious Rs 15 crore to two producers. It doesn’t seem that gargantuan, if you ask us. Ranaut is possibly the only female actor today who is a crowd-puller, and her past few films have been blockbusters.

Love and a baby

CONGRATULATIONS are in order for Neville Tuli and Namrita Bachchan. Namrita and Tuli, who have known each other – and have worked together at the latter’s Osian Arts Institute – since 2006, have just been blessed with a child. Petite Namrita, 40, is the granddaughter of Harivanshrai Bachchan, and daughter of Ajitabh and Ramola. While Namrita is a talented artist and graphic designer, Tuli blazed an intense, often controversial, trail in the Indian art world towards the end of the noughties. The 52-year-old now divides his time between Mumbai, Delhi and London.

Birthday for the Bay

QUEENIE Singh’s birthday party has become a go-to evening each December. After she pulled off a mega coup last year by getting Vijay Mallya to attend – the guest list featured each and every one of the city’s society A-listers -- all eyes are on her this time around, too. Singh is celebrating her big day (December 10) in London at the home she shares with husband Rishi Sethia in snooty Mayfair. Her besties Madhoo Shah and Rhea Pillai are flying down especially for the celebration. Then, on December 21, she will give Mumbai’s well-heeled folks the big blowout they’ve been waiting for. A midtown hotel’s newest nightclub has been booked, and about 300 guests are expected to attend.

Babe-watch

IT’S been an amazing year for Tanya Madhvani, the younger daughter of yesteryear actor Mumtaz and her gazillionaire husband Mayur Madhvani. Tanya married her boyfriend Marco Cilia earlier this year, and they had a baby -- Leonidas Mayur Cilia -- this September. And to prove she isn’t taking anything for granted, Tanya has just shared this photo of herself in a swimsuit, just two months after giving birth. All we have to say is: wow!

Tailpiece

A leading politician, who recently hosted a grand wedding for one of his children, is the hot topic these days in tinseltown. We hear the officeholder was so keen to have a few film actors at the wedding that he wooed them with silk saris and jewellery. Which, we suppose, is par for the course, since our stars are a spoilt lot. But even we were surprised when a long forgotten female actor received her gifts. It seems the politician was quite taken in by her in his salad days.
