KAMPALA. UCU Lady Canons are not going to give up their National Basketball League crown without a fight.
That was evidenced as much on Wednesday as the reigning champions held on to force overtime.
They then dominated the extra period for a 78-75 victory over the KCCA Leopards to ensure there is a decisive game seven this evening at YMCA.
The five time champions had clinched their previous two titles in six games but after losing three straight games, were on the verge of going down by the same score to their fierce opponents.

“We were fighting for our pride and a chance to fight for the trophy,” UCU coach Nick Natuhereza stated of his team’s game six performance.
He will hope Judith Nansobya puts up another decisive performance following her game six heroics in which she scored all 12of UCU’s overtime points for a game high 26 points. The guard is also averaging a series high 16.3 points.
“Today we will be fighting for the trophy. We need to fight and execute under a lot of pressure. It will be tough but we are looking forward to it,” added Natuhereza.

KCCA coach Timothy Odeke was meanwhile critical of his side’s individualistic approach that led them into some bad shots.
“They should just rely on one another, play as a team, which we didn’t do quite enough on Wednesday,” Odeke stated.
Flavia Oketcho missed her shot with six seconds of regulation time as the two teams went into overtime. The guard finished with 17 points while Martha Soigi scored a team high 24 points and 12 rebounds.
