2 brothers arrested for ‘raping’ minor

Two brothers — Krishan and Raj Pal of Guhna village in the district — have been arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old resident of a village in Jind district.

In a complaint to the police on November 23, the victim alleged that she had come to Guhna, the native village of her sister-in-law (bhabhi) on October 22 where she was allegedly raped by her bhabhi’s brothers Krishan and Raj Pal. Though the incident was reported to her bhabhi and others, they threatened her to keep quiet.

The victim further stated that she informed her own brothers after returning to her parental village but they also did not help her. She then informed her cousins (sons of her father’s elder brothers) who helped her in lodging the complaint.

Investigating officer Ramesh Kumar said the accused were were sent in judicial custody by the court today. Others involved in the case would also be arrested soon.
