Three projects of Save Aravalli, an NGO, have been selected for international competitions simultaneously. The projects highlight the importance of groundwater recharge, eco-tourism and development of slum areas.

“Our three projects — Eco-connection spot, Park for children in slum areas and Construction of 1,000 groundwater recharge systems — are vying for the top honour at these competitions being held in Russia, Netherlands and Italy, respectively,” reveals Shasvat, coordinator of the projects.

Save Aravalli is a non-profit organisation working to protect and conserve the environment in the region and parts of the NCR.

Shasvat said the Eco-connection spot, proposed to be developed near Kot Lake in the Aravallis here, had reached the final stage of the competition being held by Dubldom International, a Russian organisation. “The organisers will help in installing a modular house at our site free of cost if our entry wins,” says Shaswat.

The whole idea was to connect masses with the nature as lack of exposure and absence of empathy had resulted in damage and exploitation of the Aravallis, he said.

‘Parks in slum areas’ is aimed at providing park facility in slum clusters here, he said. The organisers of the competition in Netherlands were likely to release up to 10,000 Euros if the project was declared the winner.

The third project has been selected by “Time for Impact International” in Italy. Under the project, 1,000 groundwater recharge systems will be developed in Faridabad city over the next five years.
