Man gets life term for killing 82-yr old

SONEPAT: Additional District and Sessions Judge Dr Sushil Garg today sentenced a resident of Jagsi village in the district to life imprisonment in a murder case.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Dr Sushil Garg today sentenced a resident of Jagsi village in the district to life imprisonment in a murder case.

Vinod of Jagsi village was held guilty of killing 82-year old Mehar Singh of his village on September 30, 2014. His two brothers, Rajesh and Shamsher, have been acquitted in the case for want of evidence.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict. In case of default on payment, Vinod will have to serve imprisonment for one more year.

According to case details, Sat Narain of Jagsi village lodged a complaint with the police on September 30 at Gohana alleging that Vinod, Rajesh and Shamsher came on a motorcycle and shot his father Mehar Singh dead. The police arrested the accused on October 1. During interrogation, Vinod confessed to having fired a gunshot at Mehar Singh to avenge his father Sube Singh’s murder about 26 years ago, allegedly committed by Mehar’s family members.
