Incentives announced by FM Arun Jaitley for those making digital payments

New Delhi: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today announced some incentives for those who make digital payment. Following are the details of Jaitley’s briefing and announcements:

There are 4.5 crore consumers who purchase petrol/diesel worth Rs 1800 crore daily. In one month this sale has increased from 20% to 40% in terms of digital pay mode.Cash requirement per day has lowered down by Rs 360 crore thanks to this. If it goes 30% high from here, annually Rs 2 lakh crore money in circulation will come down. Those who buy petrol or diesel through digital mode will get 0.75% discount.

Two POS machines will be provided for free of cost by government to one lakh villages that have population below 10,000 through Government’s financial inclusion fund.

4,32 crore farmers connected to rural cooperative banks and having Kisan Credit Card through NABARD will be given RUPAY card. POS, micro ATM and ATM transactions will be availed to them as per their credit limit.

Wherever there are suburban railway network, those travel monthly or get seasonal ticket through digital mode will be availed 0.5% discount from 1st January 2017. Mumbai suburban railway will be a starting point for this scheme.

58% of those who travel by railways, book tickets online. Online ticket booking will avail Rs 10 lakh accidental insurance cover.

Booking of catering, retiring room, accommodation facilities offered by railway will attract 5% discount on digital payment mode.

Public Sector Insurance companies including general insurance and life insurance companies will give discount if payment for policy and premium is done digitally through customer portal. The discount will be 10% in case of general insurance company and 8% in life insurance company’s case.

Central govt department and PSUs will ensure that transaction fee and MDR charges burden may not come on any customer.

PSU banks provide POS terminal, micro ATM for digital payment facility. They will ensure that rental is not more than Rs 100. A cap of Rs 100 rental per month will be there on each machine. Today 6.5 lakh machines are provided by banks. More will be provided. Even the exiting machines will be entitled to cheap rent facility.

Notification of govt has been put in both houses to make transaction through digital mode upto Rs 2000 service-tax free.

Fastag or RIFD card digital payments at National Highway toll plazas will attract 10% discount.
