Mystery emu appears on south Taff Trail cycle path

An emu gave passers-by a shock when it was spotted running around a Cardiff cycle path.

It is unknown where the the 1.2m (4ft) tall bird appeared from - although emus are commonly farmed in the UK.

Cyclists managed to capture the bird on film as they travelled along the Taff Trail leading from Pontypridd to Cardiff.

Cyclist Matt Penny, said: "A dog owner had warned them there was an emu running around a bit further down.

"They thought he was playing a prank, so couldn't believe it when they actually came across the bird."
