Government school students to get lessons in smart classroom

MYSURU: Students of a higher primary school in Mysuru, which has the highest number of girl students in the region, will now be exposed to smart learning. The upgraded Government Higher Primary School in north Mysuru, with about 700 students, on Wednesday got a smart classroom, thanks to efforts of an NGO, Kalisu Foundation. The smart classroom is equipped with a computer and projector, facilitating interacting learning like in private institutes.

The school had recently admitted over 100 students, who were thrown out of private schools for not paying fees on time.
Jyothi N and Leelavathi, both science teachers, said the facility will be a boon to their students, as the smart classroom will give them more clarity on the lessons. Other teachers of the school also echoed the opinion, pointing that showing pictures and videos will be highly effective.
Headmaster Naganna told TOI, “We’re leaving no stone unturned in providing best teaching facilities for the benefit of our students. Smart classrooms will surely help our students. The school has 700 students of which, 363 are girls studying of classes I-VIII.”
Nikhilesh, CEO of Kalisu Foundation, said, “This is the first government school to get a smart classroom facility from us. We spent around Rs 90,000 to set up the facility, which was co-sponsorship by FANUC, a robotics company from Bangalore. They’re working to improve the quality of education in government schools in Mysuru using technology and by setting up libraries.”
Develop inquisitive mind: SP
SP Ravi D Channannanavar who inaugurated the facility, urged students to develop an inquisitive mind for a better future. He advised students never to let themselves down thinking government schools are inferior to private schools. “Even Sir MV and Dr BR Ambedkar studied in government schools, but they excelled in life,” he said. Ravi urged teachers to encourage students to develop an inquisitive mind.
