ACE orders arrest of 7 corrupt officials

GUJRANWALA/SHEIKHUPURA: After completion of 10 inquiries, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has ordered the registration of cases against seven officials, and the issuance of arrest warrants against three others.
The allegations of corruption, fraud and abuse of powers were leveled against EST Sajjad Hussain, senior clerk of education Latif Ahmed, Patwaris Faiz Ahmed and Bashir Ahmed, secretary union council Nawaz, clerk Amir Siddique, Union Council Secretary Rab Nawaz and Patwari Sarfraz Ali. After completion of the Inquiries, these allegations were found true. In the light of inquiry reports, ACE Director Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry issued orders to register cases against seven officials and arrest of three officials.
Meanwhile, the ACE started inquiry against a contractor for using substandard material in the construction of a road. It was reported that a citizens Zubair Baig had submitted a complaint to the ACE that contractor has used substandard material in the construction of Khan Musalman Road which caused a Rs190 million loss to the government exchequer. On the application director anti corruption has appointed assistant director technical Ghulam Ghaus as inquiry officer, who has summoned the officers concerned with relevant record.
Toxic liquor kills 2 brothers, friend: Two brothers among three people died while five others fainted after taking toxic liquor in village Noor shah near Burj Attari on Wednesday. A group of friends arranged a party in which self manufactured wine was served. All the eight friends fell unconscious and were shifted to a hospital. Three of them identified as Afzaal, Shabbir and Hanif Masih were pronounced dead by the doctors. The condition of other 5 drunker were stated to be stable. The Factory area police got registered the case against three manufacturers Rafiq, Rasheed and Rizwan. The Tehsil Ferozewala and Sharqpur area are notorious for the manufacturing of tainted wine allegedly on the behest of local police. The social circles in this connection demanded the stern crake down to bulldoze this menace.
