Huge haul of liquor seized

During a naka last evening, the police seized 2.43 lakh millilitres liquor which was being transported in a Bolero Camper on the Looni main road near Lahru here.

Disclosing this in an official noté today, Bir Bahadur, DSP, police headquarters, said a police party, manning a naka set up near Lahru, intercepted the vehicle.

On checking of the vehicle, the police recovered 2,07,000 ml of Una No.1 liquor and 36,000 ml of English wine totalling 2.43 lakh ml.

The DSP said two persons, including the driver of the vehicle, had been booked in this connection and a case under relevant sections of the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act, 2011, had been registeredat Chowari police station. Further inquest into the case was under way, the DSP added.
