Teenager was left at doorstep of Dilkusha Home when she was two-years-old

Ilisapeci Daucakacaka was filled with joy when she received her Christmas gift from Santa Claus during a special dinner treat on Tuesday organised by MHCC for orphans.

However, hidden behind that smile, she has one wish in life: “If I had one wish for this Christmas, it would be to see my dad.”

To date, she has not met the father, she does not what he looks like nor does she know his name.

The 17-year-old still prefers to recognise Dilkusha Home as her real home. She was left at the Home’s doorsteps at the tender age of two and has lived there ever since.

“I used to feel bad at first when new kids would join the Home because I was the youngest and the attention shifted to them,” the teenager said.

“But now I do not feel that way, I feel really happy and treat them like my real brothers and sisters.”

Questions about where she came from or who her parents were were answered when she was in Year 7.

She recalled returning home one afternoon from school and was called into the office. It was then when she had met her biological mother for the first time.

At first glance she was shocked but glad that her mother had came back for her, just when she thought she was forgotten.

Ilisapeci is a student at Dilkusha. Her biological mother and siblings regularly keep in contact or visits her at the Home.
