POLICE AND Army launched an operation in south Kashmir’s Bijbhera area on Wednesday evening after a tip-off about the presence of two top militant commanders in Hasanpora Arwani village. Security forces had information that two militants were hiding in the house of a villager, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh. Soon after cordoning the area, the forces started firing towards the house.
Watch what else is making news:
Although there were reports that Lashkar commander Abu Dujjana could be among the trapped militants, neither the police nor Army confirmed it.
A defense spokesman said, “The operation is in progress. There are no reports whether any militant has been killed.”
