Hyderabad: A letter addressed by the Federation of North Eastern Colonies of Secunderabad (FNECS) comprising 13 colonies threatening to initiate legal action if the Armed Forces Co-operative Housing Society at Vayupuri (AFOCHS) closes the colony gate, has solved the long pending problem.
The Federation questioned the erection of sign boards and gates at the place and warned the ex-Air Force officers’ society of approaching the court if they closed the gate.
The housing society replied in a statement that the roads belonged to government and will not be closed. It should be recalled that Deccan Chronicle had earlier reported on how residents are affected by the closure of AFOCHS gate.
In November, a letter was addressed to the President of AFOCHS by Mr C. S. Chandra Shekar, Secretary of FNECS, saying, “Residents apprehend that the gates and barriers which have been constructed by your society may be closed any moment without warning. Residents are not able to understand why the structures are being erected. In case these gates are closed to public at any given time, the affected citizens would not hesitate to agitate and put the matter in front of the court and the concerned agencies of the government in order to prevent the closure of these roads to public”.
To this warning letter, the AFOCHS replied, “The residential layout of Sainikpuri and Vayupuri and some colonies north of Sainikpuri are linked by interconnecting roads passing through Vayupuri. We are installing sign boards at the colony entrance from both sides for increased visibility and identity for the benefit of general public’s commuting. We assure them that these gates will be kept open. The gates are being provided simultaneously for improved appearance in what can be a relief to thousands of residents.”
“We sincerely thank Wg. T.J. Reddy, President AFOCHS, for giving all our colony associations in writing that these roads are main roads that will never be closed for anyone. They will remain open at all times to all the colony commuters”, said Mr C.S. Chandrashekar, secretary of the federation.
