MUMBAI: The Bombay high court on Wednesday was told that an urgent meeting of the
general body of the
BMC would be convened to decide on the approval for a
site to install a second
Doppler weather
radar for the city.
The general body comprises 227 corporators. A bench of Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice Mahesh Sonak was informed by senior advocate S U Kamdar, appearing for the BMC, that the meeting was scheduled for Thursday.
He earlier informed the improvements committee on December 3 approved the site at Veravalli reservoir in Jogeshwar. The judges perused the IC’s resolution, which stated that the site would be handed to the
IMD for a noninal charge.
Last week municipal commissioner Ajoy Mehta was directed to call for a special extraordinary meeting of the improvements committee to approve the site. The court was miffed over the non-compliance of its Sept 1 order where the BMC was directed to complete the process of handover of site within 10 weeks.
