Rs 10.7 lakh seized in Panipat

PANIPAT: The police seized Rs 10.7 lakh from three persons coming from Delhi on the Jatal road near Sodapur village here today.

The police seized Rs 10.7 lakh from three persons coming from Delhi on the Jatal road near Sodapur village here today.

The matter was handed over to the Income Tax Department after the accused failed to reveal the source of the cash.

The accused have been identified as Sandeep of Dupedi village in Karnal, Raja and Rattan Lal of Kaithal.

Krishan Kumar, in charge, police post, Assandh road, said the police were on high alert today on the directions of the Superintendent of Police.

He said the police stopped a car bearing Punjab number near Sodapur village. The occupants failed to produce the documents of the car and during search, Rs 10.7 lakh were recovered from their possession. The amount was seized under Section 102 of the Criminal Procedure Code, he added.
