Four people from both sides including the regional secretary of the NDC, Kafui Agbleze have been brutally assaulted in the series of attacks.

The first attack happened at 11:00 am at about 500 metres away from the Dzodze Deme D.A. Primary Polling Station where a supposed NPP supporter was brutally manhandled by some supporters of the NDC for allegedly threatening voters he accused of being Togolese.

The victim identified only by his first name Xorlali was rescued by the police with blood oozing from his forehead.

The police team then manning the Dzodze Deme D.A. Primary School Polling Station received a distress call from some people in the community that a man was being attacked.

However, when the police tried to rescue him, he refused to go with them claiming they were spectators to his assault and refused to arrest his attackers.

It is alleged that when the NPP supporters heard about the incident, they mobilised themselves for a fightback.

The ring leader of the mob identified as Dodzi assaulted the NDC regional secretary, Mr Agbleze.

However, Dodzi and his friend, Etornam were also later in a reprisal attacked by a group who inflicted body wounds on them.

The police managed to track down the vehicles the alleged NPP mob were using after they escaped.

Sensing danger, the team led by Mapozo attempted to escape engaging the police in a high speed chase through the principal street of Dzodze.

However, the police pursued them and arrested the driver called Japan and his accomplice.

At the time of filing this report they were being held to assist the police investigations.

The NDC constituency chairman, Mr Moses Azaglo and a team of about eight men in a Mahindra pick-up with registration number GE 8780 15 earlier in the morning had been accused of assaulting Horlali.

In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Mr. Azaglo alleged that he only drove to the scene because an NPP gang were hiding in the bush terrorising voters.
