Stiff competition for A-list divas

Post Pink, Taapsee has become everyone's choice.

Vidya Balan’s recent release Kahani 2 failed to rake in the bucks at the box office. That’s not all — at the moment, the actress has only two films in her kitty, Mahesh Bhatt’s Bagum Jaan, which she just finished filming, and a biopic on Kamala Das, which she is about to start.

She is not the only A-list Bollywood actress to be facing trouble. Katrina Kaif’s films Fitoor and Baar Baar Dekho were back to back flops. One can hope that Jagga Jasoos goes better for her. Anushka Sharma’s next home production Phillauri has also been delayed.

Despite being A-listers, all these actresses hardly have any films in their kitty. While Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone are exceptions to the rule, having made smashing debuts in Hollywood, the others seem to be in trouble. Deepika has also begun shooting Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati and PeeCee might sign Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s next production Fanney Khan in December.

However, a trend has seen up-and-coming actresses taking centre stage as far as BO hits and upcoming projects are concerned. Post the enormous success of Pink, Taapsee Pannu has suddenly become everyone’s choice. The actress has Tadka, Makhna, Runningshaadi.com, Judwaa 2 and Naam Shabana in her kitty. Parineeti Chopra, who faced a rough patch for a while, has also got a hand full of movies like Takadum, Golmaal Again and Meri Pyaari Bindu, while Jacqueline Fernandez has Judwaa 2, Tarun Mansukhani’s next, and Reloaded.
