Calling the BJP “number one liar”, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of misleading the nation on the issue of black money and alleged that entire black money in the country was in possession of just a hundred families and one of them was the PM’s friend.

Mulayam also claimed that Centre’s demonetisation move was a tactic to divert public attention. Addressing a public meeting in Bareilly district Wednesday, Mulayam said that there are only 100 families who had maximum black money and Prime Minister should tell the nation how much black money he had realised from these families.

“People are aware about those who have got benefit in the name of action against black money, while farmers and labourers have suffered…One of them is your friend. He stays with you round the clock. You were supposed to take black money first from him and to ask him about it. If he has not divulged the information, you should end your friendship with him. I will not reveal the name of this person, but I have met him and had also been in contact with him,” Mulayam alleged.

He said that people will give a strong reply to the BJP for cheating them with false promises. “Modi ji, Stay alert. You have not fulfilled the promises you made. Poor common people have yet not received Rs 15 lakh in their bank accounts,” Mulayam said.

Mulayam said that the entire nation was in the grip of panic after ‘demonetisation’, claiming that two women had died of shock after their old currency notes were not exchanged.

Festive offer

SP chief also attacked the Congress, and said that even that party failed to deliver its promises to the poor.

Mulayam appreciated SP’s state president Shivpal Singh Yadav and general secretary Om Prakash Singh, who were sacked from the Cabinet by CM Akhilesh Yadav in October, and were present at the event.

While he praised Akhilesh government for fulfilling promises made in the election manifesto, he targeted the CM for not carrying out recruitment in various departments. He said that he was aware that at least five lakh youths could be given jobs in various departments including police at present. Mulayam even asked Minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, who was also present there, to ask CM why recruitment were not being done. He said that the ministers should ask that question to the CM.

Mulayam said that there was a shortage of inspectors and constables in the UP Police. He claimed that in his 18-month government, recruitment was done three times, while in the five-year rule of the present government with absolute majority, police recruitment was done once only.
