Johannesburg – A domestic worker is in ICU after she was allegedly hit with a golf stick by her employer in the east of Pretoria, the EFF said.
The woman was allegedly attacked at her employer's home on Saturday, EFF councillor Obakeng Ramabodu said.
She was admitted to hospital and was currently being treated in the intensive care unit.
Ramabodu said the party was made aware of the matter by the woman's husband.
The party has opened a case of attempted murder against the man in Sinoville, Pretoria.
Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini confirmed that a case had been opened. The man appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Monday, December 5, and was expected to appear again next Monday on December 12.
The EFF in Pretoria has vowed to follow the man's case closely, while also monitoring the woman's condition.
She was currently not in a state to divulge the details of what had led to the assault, Ramabodu said.
