See Miranda Lambert’s Playful ‘We Should Be Friends’ on ‘Seth Meyers’
Miranda Lambert won’t launch her Highway Vagabond Tour until late January, but that hasn’t stopped the Weight of These Wings singer from hitting the talk-show circuit. Last night, Lambert stopped by Late Night with Seth Myers to deliver the TV debut of “We Should Be Friends,” the follow-up track to her album’s Grammy-nominated kickoff single, “Vice.”
A loose, greasy slab of funky-tonk, “We Should Be Friends” finds Lambert beefing up her social circle with a likeminded group of buddies, extending friendship to everyone from beer drinkers to daddy’s girls. “If you use alcohol as a sedative and ‘bless your heart’ as a negative. . .we should be friends,” she sings during one of the album’s sharpest moments, backed during the Seth Myers taping by a revised version of the band that joined her during this year’s Keeper of the Flame Tour. Watch the full performance above.
In what’s already shaping up to a busy December, Lambert also stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show – filmed in Southern California, nearly 3,000 miles from Seth Myers’ Manhattan studio – this week to perform “Vice.” The song received two Grammy nods yesterday morning, earning nominations for Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song. See that performance below.
