    Chennai music and dance festival
    When: Mid December 2016 till mid January, 2017
    Where: Tamil Nadu
    Chennai music and dance festival is a celebration of classical music (Carnatic Music) and dances of South India. Patrons eagerly await this event each year during mid-December to mid-January in the city of Chennai. The festival holds special attractions at a number of venues around the city by various sabhas or organisations. You can indulge in divine music at the specific auditoriums, well-known temple premises and heritage bungalows.

    Time for some trivia: The Margazhi festival of dance and music started in the year 1927, to commemorate the anniversary of Madras Music Academy every December. It was later adopted by organisations that organised art festivals in Chennai. The Tamil month of Margazhi is a sacred month of the Hindus. Carnatic Music, which has its roots in devotion to the Gods, has been a traditional form of worship from time immemorial. The city comes alive with the festival, which has now developed, into a cultural extravaganza with more than 2,000 participants in over 300 concerts.

    Its a good idea to visit the city of Chennai around this fest and soak in the love for music and dance.

    Island tourism festival
    When: January 6-15, 2017
    Where: Port Blair, Andaman
    Set in the beautiful island capital of Port Blair, Island Tourism Festival is a 10-day long festival, which showcases dance, drama, music, exhibitions, display arts and crafts, flora and fauna and marine life. The Island Tourism Festival (ITF) is organised by the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. During this time, festivity is evident on the streets, shops and structures all across the island. Therefs much on the charts for activity lovers too. Participate or just cheer for the Canoe Race, Scuba Diving competitions, Nicobari Hodi race or Dog shows. Late in the evening, enjoy a sumptuous dinner at a popular floating restaurant. Apart from performances by the tribals of the Island, many known cultural troupes and artistes of national and international fame are invited to perform during Island Tourism Festival in Port Blair. Government agencies and private entrepreneurs from the islands and mainland India come to attend the exhibitions organised during this festival. The exhibitions highlight the developmental aspects of these islands earmarking it as an eco-friendly tourist destination.

    Supersonic

    Where: Magarpatta, Pune (Maharashtra)
