Thanks to his hit party numbers, Badshah’s fans expect him to be equally ‘hip and happening’ in real life too. But the rapper says they are left disappointed when they meet him because he is much more serious and composed than his on screen image.

“So many kids meet me and they get disappointed. They ask me to wear shades and behave in the way I do in my songs. Then I have to explain it to them that I am like this in real life, more composed, chilled out and cool. The image that is on screen is very different from who I am in real life. I am very serious about my work,” Badshah said.

The “DJ Wale Babu” hitmaker believes an artiste spends his or her entire life fighting the image that is created by the audience.

“Everything is temporary. I don’t know how long will I have my time here in the industry. I want to concentrate in making good music. That will be my biggest satisfaction. Today, the market for Punjabi rappers has widened. You never know in some time there might be some other talented rapper who takes over from me and people will call him number one. As far as Honey Singh is concerned, right now, there are no songs of his. Let him come with new music, then we will have some competition,” Badshah said.

“I keep my songs clean. My song ‘Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai’ has to be the cleanest party number. That’s why families love me. ‘DJ Wale Babu’ has an undertone but it’s not offensive because when I perform at weddings, people request for that song. So, there’s no track of mine which is offensive. But I have a message for all the rappers that you can make a great song without writing offensive lyrics,” the musician said.
